The Power to Bind and Loose

Matthew 18:18

“Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Authority

Jesus gave you the authority to bind demonic activity on earth and loose the purposes of God in its place. What you bind is backed by heaven. What you loose is backed by heaven. This is not a symbolic prayer. It is an active exercise of the authority Jesus delegated to you. You have real power to restrict the enemy's work and release God's will in specific situations.

The Enemy’s Strategy

Satan works to establish assignments, strongholds, and patterns of destruction in lives, families, and situations. His strategy is to keep those assignments running by keeping believers either unaware of their authority or unwilling to use it. He counts on passivity. He does not fear silence. He fears the believer who knows what they are authorized to do and does it.

The Biblical Example

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples while explaining how the authority He gave them connected to the authority operating in heaven. What they bound on earth would be bound in heaven, and what they loosed on earth would be loosed in heaven. He was telling them that their declarations and decisions made in His name carried real weight in the spiritual realm. Heaven was backing up what they said and did with His authority.

How to Use It

Be specific when you bind and loose. Do not just pray generally. Identify what needs to be bound, name it, and bind it in the name of Jesus. Then identify what needs to be loosed, whether it is peace, healing, freedom, or clarity, and declare it released. Heaven honors your declaration when you are operating in the authority Christ has given you.

Declaration

“In the name of Jesus, I bind every demonic force, every assignment, and every work of darkness that has been operating in my life and the lives of those I love. What I bind on earth is bound in heaven. I loose peace, healing, freedom, and the purposes of God over every area where the enemy has had influence. Heaven honors this declaration and I stand on the authority Christ has given me.”
