The Power of the Cross to Cancel Every Charge
Colossians 2:14
“By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”
Authority
Every legal demand the enemy could use against you was nailed to the cross and permanently cancelled. Satan has no valid charge left to bring against a believer who stands in the finished work of Calvary. That means when he comes with accusations rooted in your past, your sin, or your failures, those charges have already been dismissed. There is no outstanding debt for him to collect.
The Enemy’s Strategy
Satan is the Accuser (Revelation 12:10) who builds legal cases from your sin and debt. Every wrong you have ever done is something he tries to use as a legal basis to establish his influence over your life. He presents that record of debt as proof that you belong to him and that God cannot fully protect or bless you.
The Biblical Example
Paul wrote Colossians 2:14 to explain what happened at the cross in legal terms. He said God took the record of debt, the written charges that stood against us, and canceled it by nailing it to the cross. In the ancient world, when a debt was paid in full, the document would be nailed up publicly to show it was satisfied. Paul was saying that every charge the enemy could bring against a believer had already been publicly canceled at the cross.
How to Use It
When the enemy brings up your past, your failures, or your sin as ammunition against you, point him to the cross. Declare out loud that every record of debt has been cancelled and nailed to the cross of Jesus. He has no valid case because the case has already been dismissed at Calvary. Walk in the wisdom of knowing that no past sin has power over a believer who stands in what the cross accomplished.
Declaration
“Every record of debt that stood against me has been cancelled and nailed to the cross of Jesus. Satan, the legal case you have been building against my life has been permanently dismissed. Every charge, every accusation, and every demand has been wiped out by the blood of Jesus at Calvary. You have nothing left to hold against me. I stand clean, free, and fully covered by the finished work of the cross.”
