I Am at Peace

John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Peace means a settled calm in your spirit that isn’t dependent on everything around you being okay.

God Says You Are at Peace

The peace God gives you is different from what the world offers. The world’s peace is circumstantial. It shows up when things are going well and disappears when they’re not. God’s peace is a constant. It holds even when the situation hasn’t changed. You can have turmoil all around you and still be undisturbed on the inside. That’s not denial. That’s the supernatural peace of God guarding your heart.

How to Practice Being at Peace

  1. Bring your anxious thoughts to God specifically. Don’t just say “I give this to You.” Name what’s worrying you. Talk to God about it in detail. Peace comes after surrender, not before.
  2. Slow down your body to slow down your mind. Breathe slowly. Step away from the noise. Peace is harder to access when your nervous system is in overdrive. Give yourself quiet moments throughout the day.
  3. Resist the urge to fix everything. Sometimes anxiety comes from trying to control things that aren’t yours to control. Identify what’s actually in your hands and release the rest.

Prayer

Father, I receive the peace that Jesus left for me. I choose not to let my heart be troubled. Help me to trust You with the things I’ve been trying to manage on my own. Quiet the noise in my mind and fill that space with Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
