I Am a Child of God

1 John 3:1 — “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

Being a child of God means you belong to Him completely, and His identity becomes your identity.

God Says You Are a Child of God

You’re not just someone God tolerates or observes from a distance. You’re His child. That means you have full access to Him. You can come to Him with anything at any time. You carry His name and His nature. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside you. Your identity isn’t defined by your background, your mistakes, or what other people have said about you. It’s defined by whose you are.

How to Practice Being a Child of God

  1. Talk to God like a Father, not a judge. Come to God with your real thoughts, your frustrations, your hopes, and your questions. He’s not waiting to condemn you. He’s waiting to connect with you.
  2. Live from your identity, not toward it. You don’t have to earn your place as God’s child. You already have it. Make decisions today from a place of security, not from a place of trying to prove yourself.
  3. Let your identity challenge your behavior. When you’re tempted to act in ways that don’t reflect who God says you are, pause and ask: “Is this who I am?” Then act accordingly.

Prayer

Father, thank You for calling me Your child. I don’t take that lightly. Help me to walk in that identity today, confident, loved, and secure. Let it shape how I see myself and how I move through the world. I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
