I Am the Light

Matthew 5:14 — “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Being the light means your life illuminates something in the world around you.

God Says You Are the Light

Jesus didn’t say you should try to become the light. He said you are the light. Present tense. Right now. In the places you inhabit, your presence carries something different. Something that brings clarity, warmth, and hope. You don’t have to announce it. You just have to stop hiding it. Let people see what God has placed in you.

How to Practice Being the Light

  1. Stop hiding what God has placed in you. Don’t downplay your faith, your gifts, or your perspective out of fear of how you’ll be received. You were made to shine. Let it show.
  2. Be present in dark spaces. Light is only useful in the dark. Don’t avoid people or situations that are messy or broken. That’s exactly where you’re needed.
  3. Reflect instead of performing. Being the light isn’t about trying harder. It’s about staying close to Jesus, the source of all light, and letting His nature reflect through you naturally.

Prayer

God, let Your light shine through me today. In my conversations, my work, and my presence, let people see something different. Let them see You. Give me the courage to stop hiding and start shining. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
