The Power of Jesus’ Authority Over Every Demon

Luke 4:36

“And they were all amazed and said to one another, What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Authority

The same authority and power that Jesus used to command unclean spirits belongs to you through His name. Demonic spirits do not come out because of effort, volume, or emotion. They come out because of authority. Jesus has delegated that authority to those who believe in Him, and when you speak in His name, you speak with the backing of the One they cannot disobey.

The Enemy’s Strategy

Satan deploys unclean spirits to attach to areas of weakness, trauma, sin, and invitation in people’s lives. He counts on believers either not recognizing demonic activity or not knowing they have been given authority over it. His greatest advantage is the believer who asks God to handle what God has already authorized the believer to deal with.

The Biblical Example

In Luke 4, Jesus was in a synagogue when a man with an unclean spirit called out. Jesus rebuked the spirit and commanded it to come out, and it left. The people watching were struck not just by the fact that demons obeyed, but by the authority with which He spoke. He did not argue or negotiate. He commanded, and it was done. This was a public demonstration that His authority over demonic power was direct and absolute.

How to Use It

When you discern demonic activity in a situation, do not plead with God to remove it. Step into the authority Jesus gave you and command it directly. Speak with the calm confidence of someone who knows their rank. Name the specific spirit, command it to leave in the name of Jesus, and stand firm until it does. Then pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit in that space.

Declaration

“I carry the authority and power of Jesus and every unclean spirit must respond to it. I speak with the authority of the One who commands and is obeyed. Every unclean spirit operating in my life, my home, and the lives of those I love must come out. I command it in His name and I stand on the Word that says they come out.”
