I Am Patient

James 1:19 — “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

Patience means trusting God’s timing even when you want things to move faster.

God Says You Are Patient

Patience isn’t passive waiting. It’s active trust. When you’re patient, you’re saying to God: “I believe Your timing is better than mine.” That takes faith. It takes a settled confidence that what He’s doing in the waiting isn’t nothing. It’s preparation. The work He does in you while you wait is as important as what you’re waiting for.

How to Practice Being Patient

  1. Identify where you’re rushing. What areas of your life are you trying to force? Relationships, career, finances? Name them and bring them to God. Ask Him to help you trust His pace in those areas.
  2. Practice patience in small moments. You build patience in big moments by practicing it in small ones. The long checkout line, the slow driver, the delayed reply. Use everyday friction to develop your muscle.
  3. Replace frustration with prayer. When impatience rises, turn it into a prayer. Ask God what He wants you to see or learn in this moment of waiting. It reframes the experience entirely.

Prayer

Lord, grow patience in me. Help me trust Your timing, especially when I can’t see the full picture. Teach me what You want to teach me in the waiting, and let my peace in the process be a testimony to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
