I Am Joyful
Psalm 126:3 — “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
Joy means a deep-rooted gladness that isn’t dependent on circumstances.
God Says You Are Joyful
Your joy isn’t tied to how your day is going. It’s tied to who God is and what He’s already done. Joy is different from happiness. Happiness responds to good moments. Joy exists in the middle of hard ones. You have access to a joy that doesn’t make sense to the people around you because it doesn’t come from your circumstances. It comes from a settled trust in God.
How to Practice Being Joyful
- List three things God has done for you. Start a daily practice of recounting God’s goodness. The more you rehearse what He’s done, the more your heart stays oriented toward gratitude and joy.
- Choose joy as an act of faith. On hard days, say out loud: “I choose joy today, not because everything is fine, but because God is good.” Declaring truth before you feel it is how your feelings eventually catch up.
- Protect your joy intentionally. Notice what drains it and what restores it. Limit what steals your peace and increase what fills you up, whether that’s worship, time outside, or good community.
Prayer
Lord, fill me with Your joy today. Not the kind that depends on circumstances, but the kind that comes from knowing You. Help me to choose joy even when things are hard. Let my life reflect something that the world can’t manufacture on its own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
