I Am Not Afraid

2 Timothy 1:7 — “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Not being afraid means fear is not from God, and you have been given what it takes to live free from it.

God Says You Are Not Afraid

Fear is not your inheritance. God made it clear: the spirit of fear doesn’t come from Him. What He has given you is power, love, and a sound mind. That’s a complete package for facing anything life throws at you. Power to act. Love to connect. A sound mind to think clearly. You have everything you need to live free from the paralysis of fear.

How to Practice Being Not Afraid

  1. Recite 2 Timothy 1:7 when fear arises. Keep this verse accessible. When fear tries to take hold, speak it out loud. Remind yourself: this spirit of fear is not from God. I have power, love, and a sound mind.
  2. Act despite the feeling. You don’t have to wait for the fear to disappear before you move. Action and fear can coexist. Do the thing anyway. Every time you do, the fear has less power the next time.
  3. Trace the fear back to its source. What is this fear actually about? What are you afraid will happen? When you name it specifically, you can bring it to God specifically. Vague fears are harder to address than named ones.

Prayer

God, I declare that fear is not from You. I take back the ground that fear has occupied in my mind and my heart. Fill those spaces with power, love, and clarity. Help me to live fully, without the limitation of fear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
