I Am Sustained
Psalm 55:22 — “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Being sustained means God keeps you going when your own strength runs out.
God Says You Are Sustained
There will be seasons when you don’t have enough in yourself. Enough energy, enough patience, enough faith, enough resources. Those are the moments God sustains you. Sustain means to uphold, to keep from failing, to nourish, to keep alive. He is actively, intentionally holding you up. You’re not running on your own power alone. You have a God who renews you, replenishes you, and keeps you going.
How to Practice Being Sustained
- Cast your burdens intentionally. 1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all your anxiety on Him. That’s an active verb. Identify specifically what’s wearing you down and deliberately give it to God in prayer.
- Build rhythms of rest. Sustainability requires rest. God built rest into creation intentionally. Honor the rhythm He designed by building genuine rest into your week, not just sleep, but soul rest.
- Draw from the source. You are sustained when you stay connected to the One who sustains. Regular time in prayer, Scripture, and worship isn’t just spiritual discipline. It’s maintenance for your inner life.
Prayer
Lord, I am tired. I’m not saying that with defeat. I’m saying it with honesty because I trust You to sustain me. Renew my strength today. Uphold me in the places where I’m running low. You promised to sustain me, and I believe You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
