The Power of Being Unseparable From God’s Love
Romans 8:38-39
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Authority
Nothing in all creation, including every demonic power and spiritual force, has the ability to separate you from the love of God. That love is the unbreakable foundation of your spiritual security. No attack, no accusation, and no failure can sever the love that holds you.
The Enemy’s Strategy
Satan works to create a felt sense of separation from God’s love through sin, failure, suffering, and unanswered prayer. He wants you to feel unloved, abandoned, and cut off from the God who is actually holding you close. A believer who feels separated from God’s love is a believer who has lost their greatest source of confidence and courage.
The Biblical Example
Paul wrote Romans 8:38-39 at the end of an extended argument about the security of those who belong to God. He listed everything he could think of that might threaten to separate a believer from the love of God: death, life, angels, rulers, things present, things to come, powers, height, depth, and anything else in all creation. His conclusion was that none of it could do it. The love of God in Christ Jesus was stronger than every force on that list, including every spiritual power that existed.
How to Use It
When you feel distant from God or unloved, declare the specific list in Romans 8:38-39 out loud. Name the specific thing that is making you feel separated and then declare that it is on the list of things that cannot separate you. Choose to believe the declaration over the feeling.
Declaration
“Nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus my Lord. Not death, not life, not angels, not rulers, not things present, not things to come, not powers, not height, not depth, not anything in all creation. Satan, you are on that list. You cannot separate me from God’s love. No attack, no accusation, and no assignment you bring can cut me off from the love that holds me. I am loved, I am held, and nothing changes that.”
