The Power of God Fighting on Your Behalf

Exodus 14:14

“The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

Authority

God Himself fights on your behalf. There are battles where your assignment is to stand still in faith while God engages the enemy directly and wins the war for you. The battle belongs to the LORD and He fights it better than you ever could in your own strength.

The Enemy’s Strategy

Satan uses certain battles to exhaust you into ineffective striving. He designs situations that are designed to be beyond your ability to fix so that you will wear yourself out trying to solve what only God can solve. The exhaustion of striving becomes the weapon that breaks down your peace and your faith.

The Biblical Example

Exodus 14 describes the moment the Israelites were trapped between the Egyptian army and the Red Sea. Moses told them to stand firm and watch what God would do, because the Egyptians they saw that day they would never see again. God told Moses to move forward, and He parted the sea. When the Egyptians pursued them in, the sea closed on the entire army. Israel did not fight that battle. God fought it for them while they walked through on dry ground.

How to Use It

When you are facing a battle that is beyond your ability to fight, stop striving and be still before God. Declare out loud that the LORD will fight for you. Release the battle into His hands through specific prayer. Then resist the temptation to pick it back up and try to handle it yourself. Silence in the face of the enemy is not passivity. It is the declaration of trust that God has it.

Declaration

“The LORD will fight for me and I have only to be still. Every battle that is beyond my ability to win is not beyond God’s. I release every fight I have been trying to win in my own strength and I declare that the LORD is fighting on my behalf right now. Satan, this is not a battle you will win. I am still and He is fighting.”
