The Power of Reconciliation to Defeat Division

2 Corinthians 5:18

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”

Authority

You carry the ministry of reconciliation, the God-given power to bring people back to God and to each other. This ministry directly counters the enemy’s primary strategy of division and separation. Because the source of reconciliation is God Himself, it carries authority that the enemy’s division tactics cannot ultimately withstand.

The Enemy’s Strategy

Division is the enemy’s native language. Every broken relationship, every fractured community, and every wall between people and God is a work of his hand. He works constantly to deepen divisions, make them feel permanent, and convince people that reconciliation is not worth attempting. The ministry of reconciliation is a direct assault on his most fundamental strategy.

The Biblical Example

Paul wrote to the Corinthian church, a community torn by divisions over leadership, spiritual gifts, and moral failures. In that context, he declared that God had reconciled them to Himself through Christ and then assigned them a ministry: to carry that reconciliation forward to others. The word used for reconciliation means to change thoroughly, to move from one state to another. God moved things from broken to restored and then gave believers the assignment of being the agents through whom that movement happens in other relationships.

How to Use It

Actively pursue reconciliation in broken relationships wherever God gives you the opportunity. Pray for people who are separated from God and from community and look for ways to be a bridge. The ministry of reconciliation is not passive. It is a deliberate, active pursuit that takes initiative in the opposite direction of the enemy’s strategy.
