I Am a Ruler

Psalm 8:6 — “You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.”

Being a ruler means God has given you authority and dominion in the areas He’s placed you.

God Says You Are a Ruler

From the beginning, God gave human beings authority. He didn’t create you to be passive. He created you to take dominion, to steward, to lead, and to build. That mandate hasn’t been revoked. In your family, your work, your community, and your inner life, God has given you authority to shape outcomes. Don’t shrink from the responsibility He’s placed on your life.

How to Practice Being a Ruler

  1. Take responsibility for your environment. A ruler doesn’t wait for others to fix things. Look at your home, your workspace, your relationships, and your inner world. What needs your leadership? Step in.
  2. Exercise authority in prayer. Praying with authority means coming to God not just with requests, but with declarations rooted in Scripture. Declare what belongs to you according to God’s Word.
  3. Lead with wisdom and humility. Ruling without wisdom becomes control. Lead the people and responsibilities in your life with the kind of authority that empowers others rather than diminishing them.

Prayer

Father, help me to walk in the authority You’ve given me. Teach me to lead well, to steward responsibly, and to exercise dominion in ways that honor You and serve others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
