I Am Forgiven

1 John 1:9 — “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

Forgiveness means God has fully removed the guilt and penalty of everything you’ve done wrong.

God Says You Are Forgiven

You don’t have to keep carrying what God has already removed. Forgiveness isn’t just a theological transaction. It’s a complete release. When God forgives, He doesn’t bring it back up. He doesn’t hold it over you. He doesn’t reference it the next time you mess up. It’s gone. The weight you’ve been walking around with was never meant to be yours to keep.

How to Practice Being Forgiven

  1. Receive forgiveness, not just know about it. Many people believe in forgiveness intellectually but still live under guilt. Sit with this truth: God forgave you fully. Let that land in your heart, not just your head.
  2. Stop rehearsing what God has forgiven. If God has forgiven it and you’ve confessed it, release it. Replaying old mistakes doesn’t keep you humble. It keeps you stuck.
  3. Forgive yourself. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself. Holding yourself in contempt for things God has already covered is refusing the gift He gave you. Accept it fully.

Prayer

Father, I receive Your forgiveness today. For everything I’ve done, everything I’ve said, and everything I’ve thought that missed the mark, thank You for removing it completely. Help me to walk in that freedom rather than returning to guilt. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
