I Am Special

1 Peter 2:9 — “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Being special means you are uniquely set apart and personally known by God.

God Says You Are Special

You are not ordinary. Not in the sense of being better than others, but in the sense of being intentionally crafted and specifically known by God. He chose you. He called you. He set you apart. You’re not blending into the background of creation. You stand out to Him. Every detail of who you are was made with purpose.

How to Practice Being Special

  1. Resist the urge to fit in at the cost of who you are. There will always be pressure to conform. But God didn’t make you to blend in. Stay true to who He made you to be even when it feels countercultural.
  2. Know your worth before the world assigns it. When you know your value comes from God, you stop needing external validation to feel secure. Settle your worth before you walk into any room.
  3. Treat others as special too. When you understand your own specialness, you start seeing it in others. Look for what makes the people around you uniquely designed and affirm it.

Prayer

Father, thank You for making me special. Not as arrogance, but as identity. Help me to receive that truth and walk in it every day. Let it be the lens through which I see myself and the compass that guides how I treat others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
