The Power of Kindness to Disarm the Enemy’s Hostility
Ephesians 4:32
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Authority
Kindness and compassion backed by forgiveness disarms the hostility the enemy stirs up in relationships and creates an environment where his strategy of division cannot take root. The forgiveness God showed in Christ becomes the standard and the source for how a believer extends kindness to others.
The Enemy’s Strategy
The enemy uses relational hostility, offense, and hardness of heart to divide and destroy communities, families, and relationships. He knows that a community where kindness has been replaced by coldness and resentment is a community that turns its spiritual energy inward on itself rather than outward against him.
The Biblical Example
Paul wrote this instruction to the church at Ephesus immediately after addressing how they were to put off their old way of living and walk differently. The standard he set was specific: God’s forgiveness in Christ is the model. That forgiveness was not conditional on the person deserving it. Paul was calling believers to match that same quality of kindness and forgiveness in how they treated each other, which would cut off the relational divisions the enemy counted on.
How to Use It
When the enemy stirs up hostility in a relationship, respond with deliberate kindness and compassion. Forgive quickly and specifically. Do not let offenses accumulate. Kindness in the face of hostility is not weakness. It is a targeted spiritual counter to the enemy’s strategy of division.
Declaration
“I am kind and compassionate and I forgive the way God forgave me. The enemy cannot use hostility and offense to divide what kindness and forgiveness are holding together. I choose to be kind even when it is not easy. I forgive specifically and completely. The environment around me is one where the enemy’s division strategy finds no agreement. God forgave me. I extend that same forgiveness to others.”
