The Power of Living in God’s Purpose That Cannot Be Derailed

Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Every attack the enemy launches against your life is subject to being turned into good by the God who works all things together. The enemy cannot design a circumstance that God cannot redirect toward your purpose.

The Enemy’s Strategy

The enemy targets purpose. He knows that a believer walking in God’s purpose is one of the most dangerous things to his kingdom. He uses painful circumstances, detours, failures, and losses to make you feel as though your purpose has been permanently derailed. His goal is to make you believe that what has happened to you has disqualified you from what God planned for you.

The Biblical Example

Paul wrote this verse to believers who were facing real suffering. In the same chapter, he had already described the groaning of creation, the suffering of the present time, and the Spirit interceding for believers. Romans 8:28 was not a denial of the difficulty. It was a declaration made in the middle of it. The Greek word for “works together” means to work synergistically, to produce something from multiple components. Paul was stating that God takes the multiple difficult components of a life and produces good from the whole thing. Nothing is wasted. Nothing disqualifies. Everything is being worked.

How to Use It

When the enemy uses circumstances to make you feel derailed from your purpose, declare Romans 8:28 out loud over those very circumstances. Name them specifically and declare that God is working them together for good. Then look for the way God is using even the painful things to advance the purpose He called you to, because He always is.

Every attack, every painful circumstance, and every attempted derailment of my destiny is being worked together for my good by a God who wastes nothing. My purpose cannot be derailed. My calling cannot be cancelled. God is working it all together.”
