The Power of Persistent Goodness to Reap a Harvest

Galatians 6:9

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Persistent goodness produces a guaranteed harvest. The enemy’s strategy of weariness cannot stop the harvest from coming to a believer who refuses to give up doing good. The promise is direct: at the proper time, the harvest comes.

The Enemy’s Strategy

The enemy uses weariness as a weapon against the long obedience required for a harvest. He knows that most of his victories come not from defeating believers in direct confrontation but from getting them to quit just before the harvest arrives. He designs prolonged seasons of sowing without visible fruit specifically to produce the weariness that leads to giving up.

The Biblical Example

Paul wrote this to the Galatian churches to address people who were being pulled toward legalism and who were weary from the pressures of following God in a genuinely hostile environment. The agricultural metaphor he used was one they understood: harvests do not come immediately after planting. There is a gap. The person who stops sowing during that gap loses the harvest. The person who keeps sowing reaches it. The promise is that the harvest is coming. The condition is not giving up.

How to Use It

When weariness tells you to stop, treat it as a signal that the harvest is closer than you think. Keep doing what God has called you to do. The enemy’s most effective tactic is making you quit. Stay in the field, keep sowing, and declare out loud that your harvest is on the way.
